Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:
Incident Type: Theft
Incident Date: 05/22/2012 - 7:09 PM
Address: 100 block King St.
Arrested: Julian R. Parks, age 19, Madison
Mr. Parks was arrested for Theft.
Victim: Male, age 56, no permanent address
Details: A street musician thought a young man liked what he heard, and that was the reason he was browsing through some of the CD's in the 54-year olds’ open guitar case. Instead, the teen grabbed a handful of cash while the musician played outside of a King St. tavern Tuesday evening. The guitar player gave chase, and caught up with the thief who would only turn back over $1.
The older man decided the young criminal had likely tossed the rest of the money during the chase. He decided to return to his outdoor venue since he had left - unattended - his guitar, and the open case that still had some bills and change in it. Thanks to some helpful witnesses, officers were able to locate the suspect. He had, in his pocket, a crumpled up $5 bill and several crumpled up $1 bills. He was arrested for stealing from a street musician.
