A 27-year-old downtown resident contacted the MPD's Self Report Unit following a strong-armed robbery that took place around 2:30 a.m. this past Sunday morning. The victim was walking near the corner of W. Main St. and Bassett St. when a man suddenly appeared and knocked the victim's iPhone from his hand. A second thug grabbed the phone and the crooks ran. The victim gave chase and saw the men get into a getaway car. He described it as being brown and possibly a Buck LeSabre. Anyone with information on this crime, or other similar robberies that took place around the same time period, should call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.

A 25-year-old man, visiting from Boston, MA, was walking with a friend near the intersection of E. Johnson St. and Brearly St., sometime before 2:00 a.m. last Sunday morning, when a man operating a scooter drove up and snatched an iPhone from the victim’s hand. The scooter driving thief sped off and was seen loading his two-wheeler into a large black SUV. As was mentioned in the last Incident Report, a number of similar crimes were reported in the greater downtown area early Sunday morning, and anyone with suspect information should contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014
