02/19/2012 - 11:24 AM
Address:
360 W. Washington Ave. (Metropolitan Place)
Suspect(s):
Male, black, 5'8" to 6', very short hair, clean cut, wearing dark clothing.
Victim:
Male, age 84, Madison
Details:
A downtown resident allowed a stranger to enter his condominium building as he was coming home Sunday morning.
The 84-year-old victim said the intruder acted like he belonged, but in hindsight he realized it was a mistake to allow the man access.
Once inside, the victim walked to a recycling room. The man followed, and attempted to rob him.
However, another resident tried to enter the area while the crime was occurring. The suspect pushed a dumpster in front of a door, blocking the second resident from getting in.
As this was happening, the victim seized the opportunity to flee out of another door.
The would-be robber also took off, empty handed.
