UPDATE: Madison Teen Arrested, Accused Of Stabbing Brother

UPDATED Tuesday, July 10, 2012 --- 4:08 p.m.

The criminal complaint in the case of a 13-year-old boy who stabbed his 21-year-old brother includes multiple witnesses, some of them juveniles.

Police in the complaint say multiple witnesses reported seeing the two "play fighting" in the living room. The play fight escalated into a real fight, and that's when 13-year-old Elijah Canada--who is now being charged as an adult, told his brother "I'm going to kill you," and went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed his 21-year-old brother once high in the chest, near the collarbone.

Doctors say in the complaint that the victim may have died if he hadn't been so close to a hospital. They also say he may suffer long-term effects from the attack, including loss of mobility in his left arm.

In the complaint, the 13-year-old defendant says his older brother was "messing with him" all day, calling him gay for a necklace he was wearing around his wrist as a bracelet.

He says when their "play fight" escalated, his older brother beat him severely, but officers reported the defendant did not have noticeable injuries.

When questioned about what was going through his mind at the time, the defendant said nothing was going through his mind, and that "all of my anger came out." He said he was angry with his father, because his father was accusing him of stealing things. Then the defendant began to cry. He said his older brother did not have anything in his hands and was not threatening him. He said after grabbing the knife, he hesitated when he saw his nephew looking at him, but then his older brother began taunting him, so he stabbed him. He told investigators he was afraid his brother was going to die.
