Release from Monroe Police Department:

Monroe Police arrested two persons on 5/3/2012, at about 3:30p.m., in the 800 block of 19th St., on Monroe's south side, in connection with an investigation into an April 29, 2012 theft of scrap electric motors. About fifty used electric motors, valued at about $400 total, had been taken without the permission of a business located in the 800 block of 19th St. The motors were stored behind the business. Video surveillance at the business captured a man and woman taking the motors.

On May 3, 2012, while police were at the victim business investigating the case, the same vehicle alleged to have been involved in the April 29, 2012 theft incident circling the business. The vehicle was stopped, and subsequently Jarrett Simons, Freeport, IL, and his wife, Jodi Simons were arrested on a charge of theft. Jarrett Simons was held in the Green County Jail, and Jodi was released pending a future court date. The incident remains under investigation and police are working to recover the stolen property.
