Mr. Tessmer was arrested for Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Resisting/Obstructing.
Madison and Town of Madison Police officers responded to a burglar alarm sounding from a Perry St. business early Sunday morning.
A Madison officer found a window had been broken at Imperial Blades, and spotted two men leaving the area. He ordered them to stop, but they ran.
A Town of Madison K9 officer was able to stop one, and his K9 partner tracked down the second: Mr. Curtis L. Tessmer, age 23, no permanent address. He was wearing a black ski mask and was hiding on the running board of a moving truck parked in the 2800 block of Perry St.
The police dog also led officers to two backpacks worn and then tossed by the fleeing men.
The backpack of the first detained suspect, Mr. Brian T. Schulze, age 29, Madison, contained a cordless drill, a metal pry bar, a hatchet, a flashlight, and a folded up larger duffel bag. The other backpack housed a bolt cutter.
The owner of the burglarized business estimated the shattered window would cost $500 to fix.
One suspect indicated they fled the business after the audible alarm sounded.
