UPDATE: Woman Caught Stealing Dog Tried To Accept Reward

UPDATED Sunday, April 29, 2012 --- 6:11 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Sun Prairie woman is being held for allegedly stealing a 6-month-old puppy from a car parked at a Division of Motor Vehicles office.

Madison police say the 21-year-old was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of theft of a domestic animal

The April 16 dog-napping of Blake, a boxer-shepherd mix, drew attention for the $1,250 reward. Blake was reunited with his owner Wednesday.

Police did not specify if the suspect is the same woman who called the owner to report finding the dog wandering in Sun Prairie with no tags or collar.

But Blake's owner, Lars Forde, says it was the same woman -- and that she didn't get any reward money. He says the money was donated to Puppy Love Rescue and the Dane County Humane Society instead.

NBC15 has confirmed the woman arrested Saturday night for allegedly stealing a dog from a vehicle, 21-year-old Erin Ohnesorge, is the same woman who returned the dog named "Blake" to a Madison family earlier this week.

Blake had been missing for days when his owner, Lars Forde, was contacted by Ohnesorge, who told him she found the dog wandering without a collar in Sun Prairie.

Forde had offered a $1,250 reward for the return of his family's dog. Forde says he had not given the $1,250 reward to Ohnesorge for finding Blake. He tells NBC15 the reward will now be going to the Puppy Love Rescue and the Humane Society.
