Release from the Dane Co. Sheriff's Department:
Madison, WI. April 12, 2011 – Detectives with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Scott A. Clark, age 39 of Stoughton, in connection with an early morning theft in the town of Dunn.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to Beck’s Bar at 2515 Highway 51 at approximately 4:55 am for a strong-armed robbery. The bartender reported that a patron he knew only as “Scotty” had returned to the bar after closing time and claimed to have left his cell phone inside. The two men searched unsuccessfully for the phone, and Scotty left. Scotty returned again a short time later, and asked the bartender to look in the men’s room for his phone. The bartender had asked Scotty to wait by the door, but when he turned around Scotty was walking in the other direction. Scotty was now indicating he had a gun, and proceeded to take two bank deposit bags and then fled in a red Jeep Cherokee.
With the assistance of Stoughton Police, Scott A. Clark was identified as the primary suspect. Sheriff’s detectives attempting to locate Clark, spotted the Jeep Cherokee at approximate 10:40 am near the intersection of Huxley and Aberg Avenue in Madison. The detectives turned on their lights to initiate a stop on the vehicle, but instead the Cherokee sped through a stoplight and then came to a stop in a field behind an apartment complex on Sherman Avenue. Clark, who had been controlling the vehicle from the passenger seat, fled on foot. One of the detectives chased after him on foot and Clark was taken into custody near the area of Hooker and Steensland in the Village of Maple Bluff. The female driver of the Jeep Cherokee was cooperative and was released.
Clark is tentatively being charged with theft, 2nd degree reckless endangerment, felony bail jumping and resisting and obstructing. He is currently being held in the Dane County Jail.
