UPDATED Press Release from the Beloit Police Department:
On 02/14/2011, at about 8:55 a.m., a Beloit Patrol Officer located Ernest Sanwick’s vehicle in the Del-Mae Motel parking lot, 1850 Madison Rd. It was determined that Ernest Sanwick was staying in one of the rooms at the Motel. As a precautionary measure, the area was secured by officers and traffic was diverted off of Madison Rd. The Beloit Police Department evacuated other residents of the Motel. The Beloit Police SWAT team was assembling on scene as Sanwick was known to be armed in the two robberies he was suspected in.
At about 11:35 a.m., Ernest Sanwick attempted to flee the area by climbing out the bathroom window of his motel room. Ernest Sanwick was immediately taken into custody without incident.
Ernest Sanwick has been arrested for two counts of Armed Robbery. The first robbery occurred on 02/11/2011 at about 12:05 a.m. at the CITGO gas station, 1888 Shopiere Rd. The second robbery was reported on 02/13/2011 at about 8:25 a.m. at the Turtle Tap, 1344 E. Grand Av. Ernest Sanwick will be held at the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance.

Release from the Beloit Police Department:
On Sunday, February 13, 2011 at approximately 8:23 AM a lone gunman entered a local tavern in the City of Beloit demanding an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect fled the area on foot. Additional resources were brought into assist the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, a suspect had been identified. The Beloit Police Department is currently seeking to arrest the following suspect for armed robbery:
Ernest L. Sanwick III, male white, in his 40’s, 6’1” 200lbs, brown hair and green eyes.
The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not make any attempts to take law enforcement action and call 911 if this suspect is seen.
