Dane County deputy injured making arrest

MADISON, Wis.--- A Dane County deputy is recovering today after being knocked unconscious while attempting to make an arrest.

Deputy Brian Biwer was assisting Madison police at 3:00 a.m . on Walbridge Ave. An "unwanted subject" was in the area and police were attempting to take him into custody.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office say 24-year-old Jaren Lee ran towards the deputy. During a struggle, the deputy hit his head on the road, knocking him unconscious for a short period of time. Deputy Biwer was treated and released from a hospital.

Jaren Lee was arrested and charged with Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer. Lee is also charged in relation to the original call.

Deputy Biwer is a 14-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office.
