A felon who was arrested with a gun at the Elver Park fireworks in July was sentenced Monday.
According to a state Department of Justice release, Rashon Howard, 27, of Madison was arrested because he had an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support. A loaded .22 caliber pistol was found in his waistband at the event.
Officials said Howard was convicted of felony possession of THC with intent to distribute in 2009. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms because he has a misdemeanor battery conviction.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman to 30 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Howard pleaded guilty to this charge on October 3rd.

Madison Police arrested a felon with a gun during Tuesday's Elver Park Fireworks.
An officer noticed Rashon Howard near the Elver tennis courts. Howard was wanted, and known to have gang ties.
Police say Howard put up some resistance, but was arrested. A Ruger .22 caliber handgun and ammunition were found in his waistband.
