Grant Co. Sheriff's officials say a jail inmate allegedly punched and bit jail staff.

The disturbance happened Monday, April 21st.

Correction staff tried to move Michael Kirschbaum into another section of the jail. During this time, he allegedly threw the cup at a sergeant, almost hitting him in the head. He also allegedly punched the same sergeant in the head twice.

Staff took Kirschbaum to the ground. He allegedly bit the sergeant and another Corrections Officer.

Kirschbaum has been charged with three counts of battery by prisoners. If convicted, he faces 18 years in prison and fines up to $30,000.
