Grant Co. deputies are searching for a driver who fled a crash scene after severely injuring Platteville-area man.

The crash happened on Highway 80 near Louisburg Rd. in the Township of Hazel Green the evening of Sunday, January 26.

Shortly after 5:30 that evening, woman slowed down due to the blowing snow, and was rear-ended by another driver. Deputies say 20-year-old Brandon Monahan rear-ended that vehicle.

There were no injuries in that crash, and Monahan got out to assess the damage.

While he was doing that, a third car rear-ended his vehicle, pinning Monahan between two cars. The third vehicle then drove away. The driver yelled obscenities at Monahan to get out of the road while he was pinned between the vehicles.

Monahan was eventually freed and taken to the hospital with very severe leg injuries.

Grant Co. deputies are trying to identify the driver of the third vehicle. Witnesses describe the vehicle as a dark colored SUV.

Anyone with information should call the Grant Co. Crime Stoppers at (800) 789-6600.
