Janesville Standoff Ends with Arrest

A five-hour standoff in Janesville ended early Thursday morning with an arrest.

A five-hour standoff in Janesville ended early this morning with an arrest.

The ordeal started around 9 Wednesday night on the 3100 block of Mount Zion Avenue.

Police were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance.
two women and two children made it out of the home safely and dialed 911.

They told authorities that 25-year-old Jacob Herbeck was inside the duplex threatening to shoot himself with a shotgun.

After failing to make contact with Herbeck for about five hours, a SWAT team stormed the home around 1 a.m.

Herbeck was found asleep in the home and was arrested without incident. He's facing several charges including endangering safety with a dangerous weapon.
