Janesville man arrested for fourth OWI Friday night

According to the Janesville Police Department, a 62-year-old man received his fourth OWI Friday night.

According to the Janesville Police Department, a 62-year-old man received his fourth OWI Friday night.

According to a release, an officer was working Alcohol Saturation Patrol when he noticed a white Cadillac operating left of center in the area of Pontiac and Blackbridge.

The vehicle turned west on Blackbridge making a wide turn into the oncoming lane of traffic. A traffic stop was made and the driver was identified as Rick Hesgard, of Janesville. According to police, Department of Transportation records showed Hesgard had a revoked driving status and three prior OWI convictions.

The officer smelled the odor of intoxicants coming from Hesgard and he admitted drinking. He was unable to complete all of the field sobriety tests and was found to be impaired, according to the release.

Hesgard was arrested for his fourth OWI. A blood sample was taken and the results are pending. He remains in custody until his court appearance.
