Janesville man facing charges following a standoff with police

According to the Janesville Police Department,  a standoff with police at a Janesville home ended without injuries Saturday morning.

According to the Janesville Police Department, a standoff with police at a Janesville home ended without injuries Saturday morning.

According to a release, officers responded to the 2400 block of Ruger Avenue at 7:38 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.A man at the residence had threatened to arm himself with a firearm, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter, evacuated other residents and spoke with 31-year-old Frederick Guist, who police said had retreated into a room where firearms where kept at the home.

About 22 minutes later police said officers took Guist into custody.

Guist was charged with domestic violence battery and disorderly conduct while armed. He was taken to the Rock County Jail.

No injuries were reported.
