UPDATE: Janesville police release more info on bike trail shooting

UPDATED Monday, November 18, 2013 --- 2:00 p.m.

Janesville Police officers are releasing more information after a shooting near a bike trail.

It happened just after midnight near the entrance to the trail on Wright Road.

The victim says a stranger flagged him and a friend down, and asked for a ride. The stranger then shot the victim in the leg.

The victim is being treated at the hospital.

The victim described the stranger as: male, white, about 5'10", about 215-250lb, wearing a black stocking cap, jeans and a dark jacket.

Janesville police are investigating an early morning shooting on the city's east side.

Police were called to St. Mary's Janesville Hospital around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning for a report of a gunshot wound.

The victim told police he and a friend were flagged down by the suspect asking for ride near the entrance to the bike trail on Wright Road at Skyview Drive.

That's when the suspect shot the victim. The victim was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital with a non-lifethreatening injury to the leg.

The investigation has been turned over to the detective bureau
