Posted Thursday, November 29, 2012 --- 3:12 p.m.

Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Residential Burglary

Incident Date: 11/26/2012 - 6:33 PM

Address: 1700 and 1900 blocks Jefferson St.

Details: The MPD took reports on two Jefferson St. home burglaries Monday.

A 75-year old woman contacted police around 11:15 a.m. after returning home and discovering a front door window pane smashed out. Officers cleared the residence with handguns out and determined this to likely be an interrupted burglary with criminal apparently leaving out the backdoor empty-handed.

Later in the day, a couple returned to their residence in the 1700 block of Jefferson St. to find glass broken out of a door. Several thousand dollars worth of jewelry were determined to have been taken.

Time, proximity, and nature of the crimes would suggest they are likely linked.
