The Madison South District community policing team was out Wednesday, knocking on doors and speaking with students on how to keep burglars out.
Every year, as new students move into areas like the Greenbush neighborhood and Breese Terrace, a community policing team is their welcome wagon.
The brief meet and greet aims at tackling a yearly trend. That area sees a lot of burglaries. Police say the burglars usually know they can land more than one valuable item inside a house where more than one person lives.
To keep them away police handed out crime prevention pamphlets, advising students to lock their doors and items.
