Madison Police: Robber throws candy at gas station clerk

Madison Police say a robber threw boxes of candy at a gas station clerk who was chasing another robber.

The robbery happened Sunday night at 8:48 p.m. at the Verona Road Mobil. Police say two men appeared to be working together to pull off the crime.

One entered first and engaged the clerk in conversation. While they were talking, a second man grabbed five cartons of cigarettes and a bag of cash from behind the counter.

When the victim tried to chase after the robber, the man who was talking to him threw the boxes of candy at him.

Both men were seen getting into a maroon colored Pontiac.
