Madison Police searching for 2 women in credit card fraud case

Posted Monday, December 16, 2013 --- 1:30 p.m.

Madison Police are asking the public for help in identifying two women in a credit card fraud case.

A 53-year-old Verona woman was eating lunch at the Barnes & Noble café at 7433 Mineral Point Rd. when the crime occurred. It happened around 1:15 p.m. December 5th.

She had slung her coat and purse over the back of a chair. A couple of women sat down within arm's length of her purse.

When the victim turned around to get it, she noticed it was unzipped and her wallet was sticking out of the top. Four of her credit cards were gone.

She asked the women nearby if they had gone into her purse. They denied it. One said if her credit cards were stolen, she should cancel them.

The victim got up to speak with a store manager. When she looked back to the café, she saw the women leaving.

A short time later, two of her credit cards were used to make $2,500 worth of purchases at the Fitchburg Super Target on McKee Road.

Anyone with information on the women in the photos should call the Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
