Madison Police arrested a man Friday morning who allegedly punched and kicked another man in the head.

The attack happened around 2:05 a.m. in the 400 block of N. Frances St.

Police say a 21-year-old man was walking with his friends, including two women, when they encountered four men.

The men began flirting with the women in the group. The victim told the men to leave his group alone. At this point one of the other men attacked him and repeatedly called him a derogatory name.

A friend of the victim was able to give police a good description of the assailant and officers found him a short time later.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Emmite Grant Jr. for battery.
