Madison Police say a 19-year-old man was pistol whipped during a robbery Monday.
Police responded to a hospital that night when the man showed up with a head injury.
The victim says he was hit with a gun while being robbed near the 400 block of W. Gilman St. around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
He said his phone was dead, and that is why he did not contact police.
The victim said he and a couple of friends were robbed by several other young men in a parking lot. He said one robber was armed with a handgun, and another with a shotgun.
Police say this does not appear to be a random robbery.
