From the Madison Police Department:

Incident Date:

Address:
100 block N. Walbridge Ave. @ Cherrywood Court

Arrested:
Simone T. Cavett, age 21, Madison
Ms. Cavett was arrested for Substantial Battery and Resisting/Obstructing.

Victim:
Male, age 21, Madison

Details:
Madison Police responded to N. Walbridge Ave. last night after citizens heard lots of screaming.

A responding officer found a man and woman walking.

He was bleeding and appeared to have stab wounds to his chest.

He claimed to have fallen on some rocks, but the officer noted the injuries were not consistent with such a tumble.

A broken umbrella handle, with sharp edges at the end of the severed tubing, was found in the woman's purse. A small amount of - what appeared to be - fresh blood was at the tip of the umbrella tubing.

The woman was arrested for battering her male friend.

He was transported by Madison Fire Department paramedics to a hospital after they determined he would need stitches.
