CHARGES: 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangerment
Victim: 29-year-old male of Madison, WI
Details: On New Year’s Day at approximately 8:04pm, police responded to the 1600 block of Wright Street reference a weapons offense involving a knife. Officers arrived, and were immediately advised that the 29-year-old injured male was being transported to a local hospital for a laceration to his head. Police interviewed all parties at the scene, and determined that Dyamond Overstreet had gotten into a verbal altercation with the victim, reference an inadvertent bumping incident. The victim wanted an apology, and Overstreet began to yell and swear. Overstreet allegedly punched and slapped the victim several times in the kitchen, and after returning minutes later to make a turkey sandwich, attacked the victim again. She picked up an eight inch fixed blade kitchen knife, and cut the victim in the top of his head. The victim then delivered a standing high kick to the face of Overstreet.
Friends attempted to rush the victim to the hospital for medical attention, but ran out of gas on the way. Madison Fire Department responded to Johnson Street and Few Street to assist the victim. The injury required nine staples to close the six centimeter laceration, and Overstreet was taken into custody on the listed charge. The victim and Overstreet were casual acquaintances, and both were in the company of other friends during the time of the disturbance.
