Man accused of getting drunk at bar and punching bartender

WESTPORT, Wis.--- A night of drinking ends with one man in jail. John Marlowe, age 42, is accused of getting drunk at Murphy's Bar and Grill in the town of Westport and then hitting a bartender.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, the bartender refused to serve Marlowe when it appeared he was drunk. The report from the sheriff's office says Marlowe punched the bartender in the face as she walked him out of the bar.

Customers held Marlowe at the bar until deputies arrived.

Marlowe is charged with Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
