Our school systems are in dire financial positions, The DOJ estimates that 60 percent of drug cartels income is from marijuana. Illegal use of marijuana has not declined in the last few years. The market for hemp products (fiber and food) are being handed to Canada and China. Violent crime is on the rise our court system is strained. 17 states and Washington DC have legalized Medical Marijuana. The centers for disease control and prevention estimate that 50,000 alcohol overdoses a year are reported, drinking is accounting for 95,000 deaths each year. Marijuana does not have a statistic for overdose death because it does not happen. Isn't it about time we talk about the policies surrounding this plant and be reasonable with the financial aspects of regulation. $300,000.00 could yield $30,000 in revenue for Grant County and if growers had to apply for licensing and permitting then that number would be larger. We should be focusing on violent criminals and educating kids, not locking up potheads.
