Monroe Police investigating sexual assault

Monroe Police are investigating a sexual assault that reportedly happened Saturday morning.

Around 2:05 a.m. on March 1st, officers were called to the 1600 block of 9th Street. A 35-year-old Monroe woman had allegedly been sexually assaulted while in a parked vehicle at another location.

The victim says she was assaulted in a vehicle parked between buildings in the 2900 block of 13th St. about a half an hour before police responded.

She says the suspect offered her a ride home from a tavern, which was just east of Monroe. After a short ride, she says the man parked the vehicle, forced her into the back seat and assaulted her.

The alleged suspect is described as: Male, black in his early 20's, about six feet tall with a slim build, wearing a white t-shirt and blue denim jeans.

The suspect vehicle is described as a silver 4-door car. The make and model is unknown.

The woman suffered minor injuries.
