Incident Date:

Address:
602 W. Washington Ave. (U-Haul parking lot)

Details:
The general manager of the W. Washington Ave. U-Haul Moving & Storage at Downtown Campus lot contacted the MPD on November 3rd after one of his trucks was started up. It was very loud, and employees discovered someone had cut away, and stolen, the catalytic converter.

A check of the lot revealed a total of 11 trucks that had catalytic converters removed.

It is believed a thief, or thieves, likely stole the vehicle emissions control devices with hopes of reselling them to a scrap metal dealer.

The cost of replacing the catalytic converters was estimated at several hundred dollars for each damaged truck.
