Shots Fired on Madison's East Side; Bullet Lodged into Wall Near Sleeping Child

Posted Thursday, February 21, 2012 --- 1:02 p.m.

Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Weapons Violation

Incident Date: 02/20/2013 - 11:07 PM

Address: 4300 block Melody Lane

Suspect(s): Male, black, 6', average build, wearing a stocking cap.

Details: One bullet went through an apartment window and lodged in a wall. On the other side lay a 9-year old child, sleeping. Numerous officers responded to the 4300 block of Melody Lane shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night after many citizens reported hearing gunfire. Witness statements suggest the gunman was outside and may have fled in a van.

The apartment struck is across the street in the 2300 block of Independence Lane. It would appear the family living there had nothing to do with the violence. A man who resides in the 4300 block of Melody Lane told officers there had been a dispute over a drug debt prior to shots being fired. There were no reports of injury, although for one child it was a very close call.
