Madison Police, with the help of witnesses, found and arrested a man suspected in a hit-and-run crash Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 2:50 p.m. on Milwaukee St.

A woman was about to turn when she was rear-ended. The suspect's car suffered serious front-end damage and his airbags deployed.

The driver asked the woman if she was OK, then ran away. The woman said she had told him she believed she was not injured.

Thanks to the help of witnesses, officers found the suspect, 28-year-old Alex West, on a bike path near Garver Feed Mill on Atwood Ave.

He was arrested for hit and run, inattentive driving and operating without a driver's license.

After being arrested, West reportedly told police he was sorry and said “I hope that lady is OK."
