Thieves run away after being confronted by armed Madison homeowner

Madison Police say a pair of suspected thieves ran away early Tuesday morning after being confronted by a homeowner with a handgun.

The homeowner grabbed his gun around 2:30 a.m. and went outside to his driveway, where the thieves were in the midst of stealing items from his family's van.

The man lives in the 7200 block of Tempe Dr.

The man ordered the thieves to the ground. They took off running instead.

Madison Police describe the suspects as:
1. Male, white, teens, 5'9" to 6', thin build, wearing black t-shirt and black shorts.
2. Male, white, teens, 5'9" to 6', thin build, wearing black t-shirt and black shorts.
