UW-Madison Police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon for his alleged 4th OWI offense.
Around 2:50 p.m. that day an officer noticed a vehicle drifting into the bike lane on University Ave. near North Orchard St. The officer also noted that the vehicle's registration was also expired.
The officer who stopped the vehicle said the driver, 28-year-old Daniel Pirsch, had slurred speech. He also reportedly told the officer he had consumed a half pint of vodka. The officer noted a strong smell of intoxicants coming from the vehicle.
Police say Pirsch failed a field sobriety test. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol content was .24, which is three times the legal driving limit.
