Madison Police cited a Utah man for OWI after his vehicle became stuck on railroad tracks.

Officers responded to a traffic backup in the 1800 block of E. Washington Ave. late Saturday night.

A vehicle was spotted stuck on the tracks about 600 feet off the roadway. It had somehow triggered the safety gates at the rail crossing to come down.

Police notified the railroad to keep trains away from the area as they responded to the incident.

A man, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Blankenship, got out of the vehicle. Police say he tried to convince them he had not been driving. He was cited for drunken driving and the van was towed.
