Waunakee Police arrested two people following a high speed chase Monday night.

Around 6:05 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Madison earlier in the day. They tried to make a stop but the vehicle fled.

The vehicle lost control and went into the ditch on North Madison St. in the Town of Westport. Two people inside ran away. A third person, a 16-year-old girl, stayed in the vehicle.

Authorities set up a perimeter and brought in a thermal imager to search for the others.

Around 7:00 p.m., a nearby resident reported two men in her yard. Officers found both men trying to hide, and took them into custody.

Both were taken to a Madison hospital and treated for frostbite. They remain there as of 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Pending charges include operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, knowingly fleeing an officer, obstructing and multiple traffic violations.

The 16-year-old girl that stayed in the vehicle was not charged.
