An area man has been arrested for attempting to kill a police officer.
Rock County Sheriff's Department authorities say a Clinton Police officer was sent to the 700 block of Carol Street tonight to investigate a 911 hang-up call.
The officer sent to the scene says 58-year-old Terry P. Robinson attacked him when he arrived.
After a long and violent struggle, Robinson was able to grab the officer's gun and tried to fire it--point blank--at the officer. The officer was able to disable the gun before the round could be fired. Back-up officers arrived, and Robinson continued to struggle for awhile.
No one was injured, but Robinson was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He faces charges of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide, Battery to a Police Officer and Disarming a Police Officer.
