Triple Murder-Suicide Investigation Continues

Video will be available shortly.

(NBC15) Vernon County Sheriff's officials say there's no doubt that a Hillsboro man killed his wife and kids before later killing himself.

Investigators have been closely examining the notes left behind by 42-year-old Joseph Ganshert.

Police say he first shot his wife, then his five year old daughter Mandi and 14-year-old stepson Troy.

Authorities believe all the victims were asleep at the time and don't believe sedatives were used. Sheriff Gene Cary explains, "If something else was in their system, if they were given sedatives or something of that nature, we're not aware of that. We don't anticipate that will be the case because we found no medicines like that in the house."

In the notes left by Ganshert, he says God asked him to send his family to heaven. The notes are very detailed and even include funeral arrangements.

The funeral for the victims is being held on Monday.
