33rd Wisconsin Soldier Killed in Iraq

The Department of Defense announced today
the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Twenty-two-year-old Lance Corporal Travis Wichlacz
of West Bend died February 5th as a result of hostile action in
Babil Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to the Marine Forces Reserves 2nd Battalion,
24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, based in Milwaukee.

The death marks the 33rd Wisconsin soldier to die in the Iraq
conflict.

Wichlacz was a 2002 graduate of West Bend West High School and
was a member of the football and wrestling teams.

Principal Pat Gardon says Wichlacz was, quote, ``very, very
proud of the uniform.''
