Fatal Fire in Clinton

Video will be available shortly.

One woman is dead after a fire in Clinton Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to a home on Cross Street around midnight. Officials say they discovered heavy smoke and flames coming out of the back of the home.

The flames spread to a neighbor's garage, forcing firefighters to attack both fires at once.

Authorities tell NBC 15 the female victim lived alone.

Investigators say the blaze began in the kitchen. “It's extensive damage, the kitchen is pretty much destroyed, it extended into the living room a bit, and then there's smoke damage and water damage throughout the house,” says Clinton Fire Chief John Rindfleisch.

The victim's identity has not been released, and the fire's cause remains under investigation.
