A suspect has been identified in connection with a weekend home invasion in the town of Middleton.
Sunday afternoon, officers from the Dane County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call from a 51 year old woman who told a dispatcher a man was trying to break into her house. Officers reportedly found 17 year old Michael Rickey punching the woman when they entered the home. Rickey allegedly punched an officer before being arrested and taken into custody.
One law enforcement official says the 911 call may have saved the victim from much more serious injury. "You would hope that this wouldn't have happened in the first place," says Captain Tanya Molony of the Dane County Sheriff's Department. "But it did happen—and the fact that they were close by and able to interrupt it is very fortunate."
Rickey is charged with attempted homicide, attempted sexual assault, burglary, substantial battery, battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, and false imprisonment.
