A Monroe elementary school is under investigation by the Department of Public Instruction.
Officials are trying to determine whether a “time–out” room for special education students is being used appropriately.
The investigation began after a resident in the district contacted the department with concerns about the room at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
The DPI has asked the district to send files on any children who were put in the room, as well as a description of the room, guidelines about its use, and training for staff.
State officials will visit the school this week.
