Bowlin' for Colons

Bowlers gather to raise money for colon cancer while trying to dispel the stigma surrounding it at the fourth annual Bowlin' for Colons.

Bowlers threw strikes in shifts today at participating bowling alleys. They gathered pledges and donations trying to beat last year's total of 25–thousand dollars.

Doctor Holen tells us money like that can help support a clinical trials and research labs in addition to helping find new therapies for colon cancer. He also says the event not only raises money but increases awareness about colon cancer and colonoscopies.

Proceeds from the event go to University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center.
