Three special Wisconsin athletes are back home, after bringing home the gold for the USA.
Family and friends greeted Jill Mitchell, Carolyn Voelker, and Gordon Hodge Monday night as they returned from competing in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.
All three brought home medals from last week's competition,
Including three gold medals in snowshoeing for Gordon Hodge.
“It's a dream come true and the doctors never thought I could do this. They said I couldn't live past the year of 16 and they were wrong,” says Hodge.
The other Wisconsin Olympians competed in speed–skating and cross–country skiing.
About 200 members made up the U.S. team.
