The Madison school board continued talks Monday night over what to do about next year's budget.

Right now, the school district's superintendent reports an $8.6 million dollar budget shortfall, which could result in some school activities and 90 eaching positions being cut.

The district is asking taxpayers for more money to balance the budget, as well as the permission to go into it's maintenance fund and for money toward a new school on Leopold Elementary grounds.

The school board will vote on whether or not to go to an operating budget referendum at the end of this month.
