Middleton police have released their report on the drunk driving arrest of State Senator Russ Decker.
Decker has apologized for his arrest, which happened after he left an allyoucan drink party held by tavern lobbyists on Tuesday.
According to the police report, Decker couldn't recite the alphabet in a sobriety test.
The report says his speech was noticeably slurred. It also said Decker appeared very off balance and unsteady, during another test. The report says his bloodalcohol content was .09 in two separate breathalyzer tests.
Now the state ethics board is looking into whether the reception Decker attended complied with state rules governing lawmakers. They can attend those events, but they are required to pay the actual cost of any food or drinks served.
In this case, they reportedly paid $5 for food and as much beer as they wanted to drink.
