A piece of Madison history that's been around for nearly 50 years is up for sale.
The Madison Parks Foundation is actively seeking buyers for the carousel that operated in Vilas Park from 1958 to 1968.
The carousel has been unused and in storage for more than 30 years now.
It is too expensive for the city to restore and return to service, so they've decided to sell it.
"The foundation is willing to sell the carousel to any area individual or organization that has the resources to restore it for the use and enjoyment of local residents," says Madison Parks Foundation president Don Last.
The carousel is valued at about $300,000. It is being stored in pieces at a storage facility operated by the city of Madison Parks Department.
