The newly chosen Rock County Coroner submits his resignation just eight days after taking office.
Terry Maybee had been appointed by Gov. Doyle and was sworn in as coroner on May 23. Maybee says he was concerned about an under staffed department and his personal health.
Maybee replaced former Rock County Coroner Karen Gilbertson. Gilbertson resigned from office last month after pleading no contest to misconduct in office.
The governor's office will now have to appoint another coroner.
