More Money Needed to Fund Public Pool

Video will be available shortly.

Madison is looking for ways Wednesday to pay for some unexpected costs for the city's first public swimming pool.

The city's finance committee met Wednesday to talk about ways to raise more of that money from private contributors, instead of taxpayers.

The pool came in a million dollars over bid.

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz has been re–working the city's capital budget, moving some money saved in other programs to make up some of the shortfall.

At this point, the city's also dropped a second slide from the pool plans, but that might change.

Cieslewicz says, "We did remove the second slide. But that can still be added back in, depending on our fundraising efforts. And that's really what we're going to talk about today, to see if we can't raise private funds to see if that second slide can be installed."

The Mayor says they'll still break ground in July. He's confident the pool will be open by Memorial Day weekend next year.
