Non-Partisan Group to Watchdog Madison Politics

Print

Common Sense is returning to Madison politics.

A new group calling itself the Common Sense Coalition is kicking off a membership drive.

The non-partisan group is made up of small business owners, local unions, including the police and fire department associations, non-profit organizations and other local centrists.

The Common Sense Coalition says their mission is to expand the scope of political discourse that will lead to a more responsive government.

"This is a group that seeks consensus" says organizer Scott Favour. "There's not a group of ultra right wing people or left wing people, this is a very centrist group, and there's a very big gap in the middle in Madison politics."

The coalition says they are not a political party designed to run candidates for office, but they do hope to influence those who hold the power and make decisions in Dane County.

It's not up and running yet, but soon you'll be able to get more information at www.commonsensemadison.com.
