A Sawyer County judge is considering today whether to bar prosecutors from using Chai Vang's alleged confession in the fatal shooting of six hunters.

The defense says Chai Vang requested an attorney before and during questioning by investigators, but was denied one.

Sheriff's Detective Gary Gillis testified today that Vang initially asked to see an attorney when police wanted to interview him, but changed his mind ten minutes later. Gillis says Vang ``just wanted to tell his story.''

Gillis says Vang was read his Miranda rights at least three times and signed a seven-page statement about 15 hours after his arrest in the shootings.

About 30 relatives and friends of the victims are present in court today, including two hunters who were shot, but survived, Lauren Hesebeck and Terry Willers.

Vang's mother and sister are sitting in the front row behind the defense table.

When Vang walked him, he didn't look at his mother or show any emotion.
